cash for clunkers qualifying cars

Cash for Clunkers was suspended Thursday as reported yesterday after running through all the $1 billion in six days. What does that mean for you today, Friday? Don’t go to the dealerships asking for Cash for Clunkers vouchers – they won’t be and shouldn’t be honored. The Cash For Clunkers Program initiated by Congress this year is a great step in rebooting the auto industry and maybe even our economy.

Cash for clunkers, Defined: You can only trade in drivable vehicles made in the last 25 years that have been continuously insured by the same owner for at least one year leading up to the trade in (so no junkyard finds or used cars bought to “flip”). Qualifying “clunkers” will have a fuel economy rating of no more than 18 MPG (combined city and highway ratings, which you can find on fueleconomy.gov).

However, after spending 96 million dollars in less than a week buying back “clunkers” the government might be reluctant in continuing this program. While the program is supposed to run July 1 through November 1,

The U.S. Department of Transportation has 30 days to set regulations for the program — including how dealers should crush, shred or otherwise dispose of traded-in clunkers — after it gets Obama’s signature. Legislators, however, have laid out the basic framework. Here’s how it works:

Cash for clunkers Trucks and SUVs: For light trucks, SUVs and minivans, the new vehicle has to get at least 18 MPG and can offer as little as a 2 MPG improvement over the old one to qualify for $3,500. With a minimum 5 MPG improvement, you can qualify for $4,500.

Cash for clunkers How Much Cash?: New cars qualify only if they have a sticker price of $45,000 or less. So no Tesla Roadsters ($109,000), but a Toyota Prius ($22,000) could qualify, depending on your trade-in. And once the $1 billion appropriated for the program runs out (good for an estimated 250,000 vouchers), it’s over unless Congress extends the program.

Cash for clunkers Passenger Cars: New passenger cars will qualify under the program only if they have a fuel economy of at least 22 MPG. If the new model gets four more miles to the gallon than the old car, you qualify for the $3,500 credit. With a 10 MPG improvement or more, you can qualify for a $4,500 credit.

While the delivery of news updates were flawed, Washington is applauding CARS’ success. Senator Debbie Stabenow said it was a great success in a statement It is amazing that ‘cash for clunkers’ would be this successful this quickly. I urge Congress and the administration to provide additional funding.

anderson cooper bachelorette

Tuesday night it was Katie Couric on the Late Show with David Letterman. Last night Rachel Maddow was on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. Corporate synergy at its finest.

While Couric revealed she was once asked out by Michael Jackson, and other stuff, Maddow talked about Pres. Obama's choice of brew for tonight's White House beer summit, and other stuff.

Maddow is below and after the jump, Couric's behind the scenes YouTube video at the Late Show.

Did anyone see Jillian/Ed on Regis and Kelly? Can you believe he was so rude and put her out there about how many of the guys she slept with. I couldn't believe he did that.

I mean, I know some people will think it's valid but I think it's absolutely ridiculous and it lowered my amount of respect for him in a big way.

Nevertheless, there's no shortage of people who dream of beating the odds and earning a living from home.

Searching for jobs you can do from home used to be a matter of scanning the Sunday classifieds for offers to get rich quick by stuffing envelopes.

Durst, who is also CEO of Connecticut-based Staffcentrix, which develops home-based and virtual career training programs, says people interested in work-at-home jobs primarily are:

Now, exposure to at-home employment opportunities has exploded, and a wide range of job ads are just a mouse click away. But so are the scams.

Two years ago, when The Rat Race Rebellion began tracking at-home jobs, there were 30 scams for every legitimate opportunity. Now, with 4,500 to 5,000 work-at-home job ads screened weekly, the Web site finds 57 phonies for every one that's for real, says Christine Durst, CEO of The Rat Race Rebellion.

erin andrews 911 call

to complain about paparazzi lurking outside her Georgia home. (We haven't confirmed the authenticity, but it sounds legit.)

It begins with Andrews referencing the peephole video of her, as she says, "I've been in the news recently about being in a hotel naked.

She later adds that, I'm the girl that was videotaped without her knowing, without her clothes on in the hotel."

And her voice is clearly frustrated as she says, "I did nothing wrong and I'm being treated like f---ing Britney Spears and it sucks.

Deadspin.com has the full transcript.

TMZ.com says police found two members of the news media, and they were allowed to leave without incident.

A 911 call made by ESPN reporter Erin Andrews has been released. In this 911 call the hottest reporter complained about paparazzi who was standing outside her house. Erin Andrews,

who was filmed naked in video secretly when she was in her hotel room said in the call that two men were waiting outside her house and they also knocked at the door earlier.

She was captured naked in that video while she was walking around her suite, putting on makeup and primping her hair.

omer bhatti.

As a child, Bhatti often traveled with Jackson and even lived at the singer's Neverland ranch.

Court records show Bhatti was living at Neverland when authorities raided the estate in 2003 looking for evidence of child molestation.

If Omer's his son, he's his son," Jermaine told Britain's the Daily Mail. 'We won't deny it. We are going to give him the same love and care that we give Prince and Paris and Blanket. I can't clearly say if he is Michael's but I saw this kid around him.

In 2004, Us Weekly reported that Jackson did, indeed, acknowledge that he was the father.

Bhatti was briefly interviewed by investigators and was initially on the defense's list of prospective witnesses. But he was never asked to testify.

At Jackson's memorial at Staples, Bhatti was prominently seated in the front row next to the pop star's children and siblings.Bhatti is also said to be seeking a DNA test to determine whether Jackson is in fact his father.

Jackson's brother Jermaine has said Bhatti would be welcomed into the family, if he's proven a Jackson.Yes, I knew he had another son, yes I did," Jackson said in the video.

He also discussed Bhatti's dancing abilities and his resemblence to the Jackson clan. "He looks like a Jackson, acts like a Jackson, can dance like a Jackson," he said.

7 year old steals car

A 7-year old took his car for a joy ride, ran a stop side, avoided police, got the car up to 40mph before he was finally pulled over and ran inside.

The boy was in his dad’s white Dodge Intrepid. He almost hit another driver before turning into a local high school.

He got home and parked in the driveway before they finally got him.

Weber CountyDeputies tried to stop the boy by turning on their lights and blocking his way but it didn't work.

He told his dad he took the car because he didn't want to go to church.

Who, when they were 7-years-old, had not thought of stealing a car to skip church?

OK, probably not a lot of people, but this young Utah boy took the song lyrics "Bad boy bad boy, what you gonna do, what you gonna do when they come for you," to heart just a bit too seriously.

The 7-year-old stole his dad's car to skip church this weekend and drove it 45 mph right back home with the police right behind him.

His speed was slow, but erratically; and so he would kind of scoot down lower to push on the gas and kinda sit up on the seat more to see right where he was going,“ said Weber County sheriff’s Lt. Matthew Bell.

international virtual assistants association

It’s a lot less expensive than having resources on staff, sitting on the bench and waiting, she said.

Virtual assistants allow companies to save on real estate and equipment, as well as on benefits, which can add 35 percent to a base salary, Weizmann said.

But four years ago, he turned to the Internet to look for ways to reduce overhead costs for his Rockville, Md.-based Total Medical Systems. He now has just three employees on the company payroll but as many as 50 contractors working for him, some of them known as “virtual assistants.

In the current economy, Jane Weizmann, a senior consultant at Arlington, Va.-based human resources consultant Watson Wyatt, said she’s seeing more businesses with a “part-time cadre or network of people” who telecommute and bring different skill sets to projects as needed

The term, around since the Internet became widely available, encompasses anyone who telecommutes and does administrative tasks for other businesses, usually on a contractual basis. Most do tasks such as document preparation, paperwork and accounting. Some have niche areas, such as bilingual translation or creative services.

iphone virus

As to when you can safely turn it back on – we don’t know yet. The press conference where researchers Charlie Miller and Collin Mulliner are expected to unveil the details of the exploit is now slated to begin at 11am PT – about 45 minutes from now. So is this a huge threat or simply a lot of hype? We’ll update as soon as we learn more details.

How do you know if you’ve been infected? Reportedly, you’ll receive an SMS message with a single square character, at which point your phone will become inoperable. As we mentioned earlier, the exploit is supposedly so severe that your entire phone can be taken over remotely, as such, the “turn your phone off immediately” if you receive the message seems to be the only sound advice at this point.

Apple is yet to release a patch, and although leading security software vendors like Symantec and McAfee are both working on iPhone and Apple-related virus protection, nothing is yet available to protect you from the supposed SMS vulnerability.

That seems to be the only practical advice we’ve heard so far as a security vulnerability is set to be exposed later this afternoon that potentially threatens every iPhone via an SMS message.

virtual assistant jobs

What’s good about this kind of set-up is that you know you have all bases covered even when you are not doing all the work yourself. You can focus on your core business and do all the tasks you are really good at and assign blogging duties to a virtual assistant. This way you don’t spread yourself too thinly and don’t end up delivering mediocre results for all your tasks.

You don’t need to hire a full-time employee to do the job. You can get someone to work on your blog for several hours a week and pay that person the hours rendered to your business. That someone is a virtual assistant. Virtual assistants are just like regular office assistants except they don’t come into the office to perform their jobs. Virtual assistants work from their home office and deliver 100% productive time to their clients.

When you hire a virtual assistant to manage your company’s blog for you, you are getting someone who will spend all the time you paid for on working on your blog. It doesn’t matter if you hired the VA to work on the blog for just 10 hours a week or 40 hours a week, you will get that time in guaranteed outputs.

Because of the nature of their jobs- performing tasks virtually- most virtual assistant are also incredible adept at blogging, social media marketing and other tasks that involve the internet. You definitely get good results in blogging when you hire a virtual assistant who is competent at blogging. A good VA blogger can help your website gain traffic and help your business grow.

Blogging can be hard work, just ask the most successful, full-time bloggers out there. Getting a blog to the top of the search engines, conceptualizing content, writing the blogs and ensuring that the blog remains interesting and appealing to readers can take a lot of time. If you are a busy business executive who has to manage a growing business then you may not have time for blogging. But because a blog is proven to be one of the most effective social media marketing tools, you should consider getting someone to manage your blog for you.

thundercrack

PEGASUS. The two words are stenciled in black along the side of a few crates stacked at the parking structure this writer descends on the Raleigh Studios lot in Manhattan Beach. It's an overcast June afternoon and massive clouds belch an occasional thunder crack (producer Kevin Feige will joke later in the day that it's the sound of Kenneth Branagh prepping Thor). I'm just a stone's throw away from the offices of Marvel and these crates have me tripping nostalgic. "PEGASUS," you see, stands for "Potential Energy Group/Alternate Sources/United States" - a center for scientific study that appeared in various Marvel titles. It also appeared in Iron Man: Armored Adventures which is why it doesn't surprise me that these crates also read Stark Industries.

The hall of armor has expanded. Here one finds the Mark 1 displayed next to an empty slot reserved for the Mark 2 - its whereabouts right now are unknown. The Mark 3 stands battered and tarnished, reminders of Stark's battle with the Iron Monger. Then there's the new suit - similar to the Mark 3, however, look closely and you'll notice slight changes to the joints, knees and abdomen area. It's more streamlined.

From my perspective we did everything we could to make it lighter, easier, more flexible, says Favreau, and we've shot more with it.
The director is preparing a scene with Downey who is hunkered over a giant model sitting on a table in his workshop. This is the Stark Expo, I'm told.

It is something that Howard Stark [Tony's father] has done for years and years and the last one he had done was in 1974,explains producer Feige.Tony Stark is part of his new, 'I'm not making weapons anymore, I've declared to the world that I'm Iron Man. I've got to do something.' He has reestablished this Stark Expo event which is kind of a combination of World's Fair, Macworld kind of an event.

Yes, ComingSoon.net/Superhero Hype! is back on the set of yet another Tony Stark romp, Iron Man 2 which has been shooting in and around Los Angeles. Today, the production is spread out across Raleigh where director Jon Favreau is reunited with Robert Downey, Jr., reprising his role as Stark. (Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson round out the principal cast.)

The pair is found inside a soundstage where Stark's workshop has been recreated...with a few notable changes since I was on the set of the first picture.

After a brief prep session, the gang is ready to shoot and I'm allowed to watch the scene play out.
The camera pushes over the Stark Expo model; little white buildings, trees and a globe drift by as Stark peers over it like a kid transfixed on his train set. "The key to the future is where?" Stark questions. A "cut!" is called and once Favreau is satisfied a new set-up is requested. And I'm invited into the workshop to play "spot the changes" since the first film.

In a lounge area to my right - carpeted with a couch, coffee table, the usual accoutrements used to relax - maps of Antarctica and a blueprint of Captain America's shield. Stark's collection of cars has grown and he's got a few new gadgets lying around. And if you loved his robot assistants, they're back, too.

What's widely apparent is the floor. Glistening, black and constantly being polished by an on-set production assistant. In the film, this entire floor - which I'm required to wear non-scuff booties if I'm going to walk on it - will serve a holographic projection system. Similar to what you saw Stark playing with on a table in the first film, except bigger and better.

Favreau adds,This is pretty deep into the film. Tony Stark is trying to – without getting too specific with what it is, there's a mystery that Tony is pursuing as it relates to upgrading the technology that he's dealing with. So, he's trying to figure out solutions to problems that he's having with his tech.

physique 57

But if you think these are tasteless "health" cookies, think again. The two-bite, 60-calorie mounds have a wonderful, dense, cookie-dough texture, and the chocolate makes them taste decadent.

"Erin and I have always loved baking," says Meghann, a 2005 grad who lives in Dallas. "And we love sweets." Erin, who graduated in 2004, is pursuing a dance career, so she lives in New York, where she's also an instructor at Physique 57.

Two Dallas sisters with a love of baking and fitness have turned their passion into an online business. Meghann and Erin O'Leary, both Southern Methodist University graduates, created O'Cookies Wholesome Bites, organic cookies that start with a whole-wheat flour blend, trim the fat and load up on good-for-you ingredients such as dried fruit and nuts.

The value of the credit given for the purchase or lease of a category 1 or 2 truck also generally depends on the difference between the combined fuel economy of the vehicle that is traded in and that of the new vehicle that is purchased or leased. If the new vehicle is a category 1 truck that has a combined fuel economy value that is at least 2, but less than 5, miles per gallon higher than the traded-in vehicle, the credit is $3,500. If the new category 1 truck has a combined fuel economy value that is at least 5 miles per gallon higher than the traded-in vehicle, the credit is $4,500.

so you think you can dance results july 23

We went on this journey together and it's wonderful to see it all come to fruition, he said backstage after the show, as quoted by People magazine. And having Garland's son in the audience to experience that, it all just felt so right, I'm so excited — and I had a chance to direct

Holmes sang a pleasant, on-key if not full voiced version of Garland's Get Happy" from the 1950s musical Summer Stock." She appeared to be lip-synching as she slunk around the stage surrounded by a bevy of male dancers, who at one point hoisted the former Dawson's Creek star high over their heads.

Holmes performance did have one very positive effect - it was a welcome distraction from the very sad fate of two standout dancers on the show.

Janette and Jason were both sent home last night, and the judges were openly bummed about America's decision.

Both Mia Michaels and Nigel Lythgoe proclaimed that Janette - a self-identified salsa dancer from Miami with little to no formal training in other styles, who nonetheless wowed with everything she was handed, from disco to hip-hop - had been their favorite of the whole competition.

erin andrews video peep pictures rapidshare

Unless you're an alien living on a planet far, far away from Earth, you would know that the story started when some miscreant (or miscreants) surreptitiously filmed Erin Andrews through a peephole in a hotel room while she was undressing.

Will voyeurs ever stop searching the Web for Erin Andrews video peep pictures? One who follows the news would have to be excused for believing that the desperate search for Erin Andrews video peep pictures will stretch out into eternity.

erin andrews peephole tape video

Exploiting the story

While all agree that Andrews was the victim of an abhorrent act, that didn't stop several media outlets, including Fox News and CBS, from airing either photos from the video or the video (with parts of Andrews' body blurred).

The New York Post also ran several still photos, and ESPN has responded by banning Post reporters from appearing on its shows.

What happened

A videotape surfaced on the Internet of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews, who was filmed naked through a peephole in a hotel room. Andrews

representatives and ESPN acknowledged the grainy video was of Andrews and that they would seek civil and criminal action against those behind the video if they are caught.

cash for clunkers stimulus

But what is the actual deal available under Cash for Clunkers? The official document is here. In essence, your old auto that you are getting rid of must be more than 8 years old and less than twenty five.

It must get a combined MPG (ie, an average of town and country driving) of less than 18 mpg. It must be scrapped after you have traded it in, it cannot be resold (although some parts can be). To see if your old car gets under 18 mpg look at fueleconomy.gov.
No, it doesn't matter what you actually get: it's what the EPA thinks you get that matters here, only their estimations count.

From one side Cash for Clunkers is a marvellous idea, it gets old polluting autos off the streets and into the scrap yards at the same time that it stimulates purchases of cars made right here in the Good Old USA. From the other side Cash for Clunkers is simply the politicians in power buying off one of their support groups with your and my tax money.

Both descriptions of Cash for Clunkers could in fact be true, they are not mutually contradictory. You are entirely at liberty to believe one, both, either or neither of the explanations.

splice the mainbrace

If you ve never heard the term Splice The Mainbrace you are not alone. According to wikipedia Splicing the Mainbrace is when a naval vessel decides to order all its crewmen and on-board elite alcohol, most notably after they fix a part of the ship. It’s probably more complicated than that, but Wikipedia does a good job in giving you the basics.

I’m not sure if this will become the latest phrase at frat parties or just another useless fact, but for some reason this phrase is buzzing on the internet.

sam raimi

It's a very interactive, detailed world that may take its inspiration from "Lord of the Rings" but without the scholarly tone, because the game is loaded with pop culture references, in-jokes and oddball moments. (Every time I go to Stormwind,

there's a naked elf dancing on the fountain...) If there is a director who can find the fine line between action and humor, it's Raimi. His involvement promises to turn this into something special.

The director plans to tackle the project after "Spider-Man 4" wraps. The superhero flick is set to begin shooting early next year. In the meantime, I have a hankering to dust off my account and level up my Tauren.
"World of Warcraft" is the most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) out there, with more than 11 million subscribers. If you haven't played it, the premise is simple: you're a member of either the Alliance or the Horde,

tony bernazard

The News reported Tuesday that Bernazard, one of GM Omar Minaya's top lieutenants, recently erupted at the organization's manager of baseball operations. During a game at Citi Field, scouts took their customary seats in a row behind home plate. Bernazard showed up during play and wanted a seat occupied by a D-Backs scout.

Bernazard's deputy, already seated in the row, suggested to the Mets VP that he wait until the half-inning ended, to minimize the disruption. Bernazard ripped into his deputy with a profanity-laced tirade as scouts and patrons watched in disbelief.

The Binghamton Mets clubhouse nearly turned into a scene out of WWE Raw recently, when VP for player development Tony Bernazard removed his shirt and challenged the Double-A players to a fight during a postgame tirade, multiples sources told the Daily News.

Bernazard particularly went after middle infield prospect Jose Coronado, using a slang term associated with a woman's anatomy, a source indicated. The confrontation happened about 10days before the All-Star break, according to insiders.

"That's an all-timer if true," an AL official said upon hearing the account, which was corroborated by multiple people with ties to the Mets.

GM Omar Minaya acknowledged Bernazard spoke to the B-Mets in a "stern voice," but said he had no knowledge of the scope being portrayed.

Binghamton went 1-6 during an early July home stand against New Hampshire and Erie that coincided with that tumult. Three of the defeats came by at least seven runs. The team's longtime Double-A affiliate entered last night with a 36-58 record, in last place in the Eastern League's Northern Division.

"It's ridiculous that anyone in a professional baseball environment thinks it's acceptable," a friend of several B-Mets said about the treatment of the players.

The shoddy treatment of people in the system has led to mocking of the VP behind his back.
"I know he did have a team meeting with them," Minaya told the Daily News. "It was not a 'you-guys-have-been-great meeting.' I know he spoke to them in a stern voice. But as far as what he was wearing, what kind of shoes he was wearing, I don't know anything about that."

While the 52-year-old Bernazard's actions were over-the-top no matter what the motivation, alleged underage drinking on the team apparently was one motivation for the eruption, an organization source said. Still, sending players to counseling rather than challenging them to a rumble might have been a more appropriate course of actio

This was the 29 year-old's first stage win ever in his career. Astrarloza began his professional cycling career in 2002, won the 2003 Tour Down Under and placed 9th overall in the 2007 Tour de France.

Franco Pellizotti of Liquigas, successfully kept a lead during the stage, staying in front, and ultimately met his goal to gain points in the two category climbs, solidifying his position as King of the Mountains.

Alberto Contador of Astana, still in 1st overall, will wear the yellow jersey for at least another day. Lance Armstrong is second; 1:37 behind Contador and Bradley Wiggins of Garmin-Slipstream is third; 1:46 behind Contador.

Jens Voigt of Saxo Bank suffered a terrible crash during his descent down the Col du Petit-Saint -Bernard and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

dartmouth college

Before I go on, a disclaimer about the study. The pool of respondents is not randomized, but rather self-selected and the statistics are self-reported online. PayScale only included respondents whose highest degree was a bachelors, which counts out lawyers, doctors and other jobs that require a degree. As Al Lee, PayScale's director of quantitative analysis, told Catherine Rampell:

Is it Harvard? Stanford? MIT? Via Economix, a website called PayScale has collected data from college grads on their jobs and salaries and put together a fascinating chart ranking the highest median graduate salaries by school. How tantalizing! And the college whose graduates earn the most money is...

Dartmouth University College*. At least, to be specific, Dartmouth graduates self-reported the highest median mid-career salary.

alex donnelley

An insider tells the newspaper, "The two hit it off immediately.

Joel announced last month he was parting ways with his third wife amid reports the TV personality had been on dates with designer Yigal Azrouel.

The Piano Man is enjoying a new romance with ex-soap star Alex Donnelley, who has been a frequent visitor to his home in New York's Sag Harbor, according to the New York Post's gossip column PageSix.

The couple is said to have met after the former Young and The Restless actress visited the singer backstage following a concert in Washington, D.C.

harvey mudd college

The numbers are from 1.2 million users of PayScale’s site who self-reported their salaries and educational credentials in a PayScale survey over the last year. While the data are not from a randomized scientific sample, they are still pretty tantalizing. Here, for example, are the rankings by median mid-career salary (minimum 10 years out of school) by university:

A site that collects data on salaries for different professions, argues that it can help students answer that question. Today the company is releasing an updated, gigantic data set on the salaries of graduates from hundreds of universities and colleges, as well as salaries and career choices broken down by department/major.

erin andrews video peep

Radar Online says its sources confirm that ESPN is doing a full-scale internal investigation into who shot video of reporter Erin Andrews undressing and posted that video online.

TMZ.com also issued a similar report on Tuesday.

Radar says there are seven videos of Andrews and its source says the footage was probably shot by an employee at ESPN.

The videos raise the suspicion, TMZ says, the person who shot them knew with her work schedule and was traveling with her.

Lawyers for ESPN and Andrews are feverishly working to find the person responsible for the invasion of the reporter’s privacy.

It was not clear when the video first appeared on the Internet. Most of the links to it had been removed by Tuesday.

henry louis gates arrested

Andy lifts her into his newly purchased General Lee, one of the cars used on “The Dukes of Hazzard,

and takes her to see Alanis Morisette. On the way they argue about Nancy being poison and his feelings for her, and, well, it’s getting somewhat tiresome to be honest.

The whole “Andy has feelings for Nancy” storyline, while I suppose inevitable, has been a bit weird because Andy is so goofy you can’t really take him seriously as a suitor.

Esteban explains to Nancy why they can’t be married—Pilar, the woman who appeared last week and broke off the wedding, is a powerful industrialist’s daughter who bankrolls and backs Esteban’s career. He says he loves her, but soon,

it appears that the Plan to Silence Nancy is back on track—a birthing room is installed at the house,

suggesting the baby should be born at home; the car is “in the shop”; and Nancy is a prisoner yet again. Needless to say, she calls Andy and His Terrible Beard to come rescue her.

marvallous keene

Victims included Sarah Abraham, 38, a convenience store clerk shot in the head after handing over $30 from a cash register, and Marvin Washington and Wendy Cottrill, two teenage acquaintances who Keene feared would tell police about his crimes.

Cottrill's mother, Donna Cottrill, stood when Keene entered the death chamber, but he didn't acknowledge her or look directly at anyone as he lay on the gurney.

When the prison warden asked Keene if he wanted to make a final statement, Keene replied, "No, I have no words."

He stared at the ceiling, then closed his eyes. His chest slightly heaved as the drugs were administered.

Seven members of the victims' families who witnessed the execution declined to speak to reporters afterward, as did Keene's attorneys.

Marvallous Keene, 36, who was convicted in five of the murders, chose not to file a late appeal over his death sentence.

He died by lethal injection at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville — seven days after Ohio's last execution. It was the fastest turnaround since the state executed two inmates in six days in 2004.

The Ohio Supreme Court, in denying a request last month to delay Keene's execution, said it would schedule future executions at last three weeks apart so that public defenders will have more time to prepare clemency cases for inmates who wish to pursue it.

Ohio has one execution scheduled per month through February 2010.

Keene and three accomplices went on a three-day murder and robbery rampage in Dayton that began on Christmas Eve 1992.

starbucks coupon

The Facebook page also contains a URL for a mobile version of the coupon so users can simply show a barista their cellphone screen and qualify for the free goodie. Pastry selections will vary by location, but will include muffins, bagels, croissants, pound cake, coffeecake, danish, doughnuts and scones.

Starbucks is actively trying to promote its baked goods menu, in the face of morning-daypart competition from other chains ranging from McDonald’s to Dunkin Donuts. The coupon and supporting marketing materials stress the quality of Starbucks’ pastries.

“We’re making a change,” the ad reads. “Your food not only tastes better, it is better. Real food. Simply delicious.” The ad goes on to specify that the chain’s baked goods contain no artificial flavors or dyes, no trans fats, and no high-fructose corn syrups.

Starbucks has recently used social media to distribute coupons for free offers. From July 7 through 19, Facebook users could send coupons for Starbucks’ coffee-flavored grocery-store flavors to their friends on the network. Up to 20,000 free coupons were distributed in batches of about 800 every hour. If all the free pints were given out for a particular hour, Facebook users were asked to return later and try again to send the discount.

contrave

The one-year trials involved a total of about 3,800 patients.

At a lower dose, 39.5 percent of Contrave patients lost at least 5 percent of their weight. Orexigen said it would not pursue development of a third dose, the highest tested, since it did not show increased effectiveness.

One of the FDA guidelines for a weight loss drug is that there be a 5 percentage point difference in weight loss between the test drug and placebo.

The numbers indicate to us that the drug is both approvable and commercially meaningful," Natixis Bleichroeder analyst Corey Davis said in a research note.

Orexigen said 48 percent of obese patients on a higher dose of Contrave lost at least 5 percent of their body weight, compared with 16.4 percent of those given a placebo in one trial. The same dose in another trial showed that 56.3 percent of patients achieved at least 5 percent weight loss vs. 17.1 percent of the placebo group.

"We practically tripled" the effectiveness, Orexigen Chief Executive Mike Narachi told Reuters.

Contrave is a pill that combines the antidepressant Wellbutrin, known generically as bupropion, with a sustained-release version of naltrexone, an opioid blocker used to treat alcoholism and other addictions.

Narachi said Orexigen had decided not to seek FDA approval for Contrave until next year because it needs time to compile a "quality" new drug application.

matthew shepard act

The first Sessions Amendment would allow the death penalty to be applied in hate crimes cases under some circumstances. This Amendment is unnecessary and is a poison pill designed to kill the bill. The Amendment is being offered by and supported by Senators who oppose the Matthew Shepard Act.

It’s ironic that the very Senators who have falsely argued that this bill would put clergy in jail because of their beliefs think that those same clergy should be subject to the death penalty.

The second Sessions Amendment would place an additional burden on the Justice Department to revise its long established guidelines for hate crimes cases. This Amendment is unnecessary. The Department already contains well-established, clear and precise guidelines to govern cases involving bias-motivated violence that work well.

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL, embarrassingly), has introduced three amendments to the Matthew Shepard Act that the Senate tacked on the Defense appropriations bill last week. These amendments are unnecessary and are designed to diminish support for the bill.

the root

He's also 59, although for the record he is six months older than I am.

It didn't hurt that he is an American.

Most people who have read this space over the years know I'm not a golfer.

My clubs, Wilson Ultras, are double-bagged and in the attic. They have been used twice, the last time being so many years ago I barely remember that we won the four-man scramble at Chenal Country Club (my one and only contribution was a lucky long putt).

If you want to understand just how long it has been since I played a round of golf, my driver was an original Whale.

I watch a little more golf on television than I do reality shows (none), but do keep up with the golfers from Arkansas and love to watch the Masters.

As for golf in Arkansas, Jeffrey Slatton does a great job covering that.

It isn't that I don't like golf, it is more that it didn't like me.

I joke - and it is just a joke - that I took a lesson from Dan Snider, and when we finished, he asked: "Did you keep the receipt for those clubs?"

If you thought the rough was tough during the British Open, let me tell you those looked like manicured fairways compared to the places I was usually taking my second, third, fourth and fifth (would have been more but friends tired of waiting) shots.

Still, as stated before, Friday and Saturday got me hooked.

There was Watson, nine months after hip replacement surgery, playing like he was 29 instead of 59.

The man who won 39 PGA Tour events, but the last in 1998, wasn't just hanging in there, he was leading the charge.

The man who had won seven playoffs was capturing the imagination of a nation and maybe the world.

The fans, mostly people from Scotland, were treating him like he was a patron saint.

Watson was the oldest golfer left standing after the cut, and he was leading golf's oldest major tournament.

So there I was, sort of propped up between a pillow and the arm of the sofa, watching what I hoped would be a Senior Citizen Sunday.

I was keeping up with Arkansans John Daly and Bryce Molder through the laptop.

clovis people

Exactly 15 years after the comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 crashed into Jupiter, something else has smacked the solar system's biggest planet.
NASA used its Infrared Telescope Facility in Hawaii to confirm the impact Monday, after receiving a tip from an amateur astronomer about a dark "scar" suddenly appearing on the gas giant's outer surface.
The infrared image (right) shows the spot where something maybe a comet, maybe not smashed through Jupiter's atmosphere. The 1994 Shoemaker Levy collision boosted Jupiter's profile as a "comet cleaner,
absorbing the cosmic missiles before they can hit Earth. The importance of that role was highlighted by an unrelated study this week,
as researchers found that a comet explosion over North America 13,000 years ago caused widespread extinctions that wiped out the Clovis people, mastodons, ground sloths and other megafauna.

native american indian dog

The incident happened about 1 p.m. Monday — the day after the baby had been brought home — on Beaumont Road north of Nicholasville, said Jessamine County Deputy Sheriff Anthony Purcell.

The father saw the dog in the yard with the baby, but the dog ran into some woods. It later came out of the woods with nothing in its mouth, Purcell said.

Hearing the infant crying, the father found him about 150 yards into the woods, Purcell said. The baby had cuts and puncture wounds to his torso and face.

"The dog had a history of grabbing things off counters and hiding things," Purcell said. He said the dog was slightly larger than a collie. Jessamine County Animal Control officers took the dog, but it has not been destroyed, Purcell said.

No charges have been filed, but Purcell said the matter has been forwarded to the commonwealth's attorney.

rich roll

The new CQ-Roll Call Group will have the largest and most experienced newsroom covering Washington and will be the leader in providing insight and analysis about the workings of Congress," Battaglia said. "CQ and Roll Call are both highly regarded for unbiased, authoritative journalism and excellence."

The Times Publishing Company takes great pride in the success of Congressional Quarterly, and takes great pleasure in knowing that it has a very bright future as part of The Economist Group," said Paul Tash, the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Times. He said the Times is retaining its Governing Magazine division in D.C.

Each company has a storied and distinct history covering Congress and Washington politics and policy. Since 1945, CQ has been the "publication of record" providing factual, unbiased coverage of congressional activity. In recent years, CQ has been at the forefront of developing Internet services that provide real-time intelligence on the workings of Congress.

Roll Call, founded in 1955 and acquired by the Economist Group in 1992, has been at the center of the Capitol Hill community providing a look into the people, politics and personalities that drive the legislative process. This focus on community has led to strategic expansion into trade association-based grassroots mobilization with the acquisition of Capitol Advantage in 2008.

solar eclipse july 2009 time

The eclipse is part of the Saros cycle, which also includes the record-setting July 1991 solar eclipse, and is the second of three eclipses to occur within a month. The other two eclipses were lunar eclipses, one of which took place on July 7, 2009, and the other of which will occur August 6, 2009.

Tomorrow's solar eclipse will not be visible in North America; it will only be seen in Southeast Asia and the Pacific, including India, Butan, Nepal, Bangladesh, China, Japan, and the Marshall Islands. Totality will be visible from many large cities, including Surat, India, and Chongqing and Shanghai, China. It will also be visible from China's Three Gorges Dam.

The next partial solar eclipse will occur in January 2010, and the next total solar eclipse is estimated for July 2010. The latter may be visible from points along the Pacific coast of South America. The next sun eclipse that will be visible from parts of North America will likely take place in 2011.

The longest solar eclipse of the century is less than 24 hours away! According to experts, the total solar eclipse taking place Wednesday, July 22, 2009, will last over 6 1/2 minutes. Total contact time will be almost 3 hours, from approximately 0h30minutes to 3Justify Fullh00m Universal Time (times are approximate and vary according to expert; some have contact starting as late as 0h55m and ending after 4h00m UT).

starbucks free pastry

You will have to buy a coffee, but the pastry is free with a coupon ( available here ) and is good until pastries run out. The coupon can be printed out or you can show the clerk this Web site page on your mobile phone .

In August 2006 a free coffee offer from Starbucks was emailed to employees in the Atlanta region. That email was quickly circulated around the country, leading Starbucks to discontinue that promotion.

Companies have often run into problems when they attempt to give away items . In May KFC and Oprah teamed-up to give away coupons for the fast food chain's new grilled chicken. The promotion did not go well as stores ran out of chicken and people had to be turned away.

ben roethlisberger

Lawyer David Cornwell acknowledged the suit but defended Big Ben to PFT, releasing this statement: "Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone."

He also underscored that no criminal charges were pending. "The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct," Cornwell said. "If an investigation is commenced, Ben will cooperate fully and Ben will be fully exonerated."

Roethlisberger is potentially staring at one civil count of assault, one civil count of sexual assault and battery, one civil count of false imprisonment, one civil count of false pretenses, one civil count of fraud, and one civil count of intentonal infliction of emtional distress.

andrea mcnulty

Media sources have begin reporting that Roethlisberger is among nine defendants named in the suit alleging "one civil count of assault, one civil count of sexual assault and battery, one civil count of false imprisonment,

one civil count of false pretenses, one civil count of fraud, and one civil count of intentional infliction of emotional distress."

McNulty alleges that the "assault" occurred in his hotel room one year ago in July 2008.

Details surrounding the charges remain unclear at this time.

David Cornwall, Roethlisberger's attorney, issued a statement firmly denying the charges.

tour de france stage 16 results

Franco Pellizotti (Liquigas) added to his mountain points today, but it was Mikel Astarloza (Euskaltel) that attacked with 2 km to go to take the stage win in Stage 16 of the 2009 Tour de France. Pellizotti was part of a large group that rode off the front just 5 km into the race and led the race over both of today’s rated climbs. The yellow jersey group came in just a minute behind, go there will be no big changes in the G.C. today.
The race rolled out just after 1:00 local time and the attacks started early. By km 5, a group of around 20 riders had gotten away and opened a small gap. Just a few of the riders in that group were Franco Pellizotti (Liquigas), Jose Gomez Marchante (Cervelo), Heinrich Haussler (Cervelo)

Hayden Roulston (Cervelo), Jurgen van den Broeck (Silence-Lotto), Fabian Cancellara (Saxo Bank) and Jens Voigt (Saxo Bank). By the time that they reach the base of the Col du Grand-Saint-Bernard, they already had a 1′55″ gap. Pellizotti looked to be wanting to add to his climber’s points today. He has set a goal of keeping the polka-dot jersey through the end of the race.

As expected, the break splintered and Vladimir Karpets (Katusha) and Pellizotti pulled ahead of the others and motored up the climb. They were leading the first group of chasers by 1′45″ and the peloton by a little over 3 minutes. Astana is sitting at the front of the peloton, setting a good steady pace. Alberto Contador was seen sitting on the wheel of Lance Armstrong.

I previously blogged about the Erin Andrews peephole video and I’m pretty sure you’ve already seen the alleged scandalous video. As of this moment, Erin Andrews is still very quiet about the issue, I think she’s been advised be her legal counsel not to say anything as the case is still ongoing. If by chance you’ve managed to get a copy of the Erin Andrews peephole video via MegaUpload or Rapidshare, I suggest you just keep it to yourselves and don’t try to upload it again in other video sharing sites. Let’s spare her from too much embarrassment; she’d already had her share of fame and shame.
The alleged Erin Andrews peephole video which spread like wildfire on the internet has been the talk of gossip and entertainment blogs today. Rumor has it that an Erin Andrews peephole video link exists, which contains footages of the ESPN sportscaster being secretly videotaped in a hotel room and now a bunch of Erin Andrews sports fans are Googling it out to get a glimpse of the sexy ESPN sportscaster.

He acquired his peculiar talent of imitating characters and actors by learning to speak as a child from watching television. Both his parents and sister are completely deaf. With his family unable to serve as a model for how to speak, Gass grew up imitating the voices .
Gass has been “performing stand-up comedy since 1993 when he decided to get revenge on a group of comedians who had ridiculed him for attempting to perform at an open mic.

The real bad guy is still on the loose, said John Gonzalez in The Philadelphia Inquirer, but bloggers are already being punished for pointing viewers to the Erin Andrews peephole pictures. Deadspin—a wildly popular sports blog that hypes all news about the gorgeous Andrews—has been singled out for some harsh criticism for posting a link to a previously unknown blog that put up the Andrews video. The "anti-blog militia" wants someone to take the fall for this invasion of Andrews' privacy—let's just hope it's the real culprit—and not valuable blogs like Deadspin—who pays.
The search is on for the sicko behind the Erin Andrews peephole pictures, said Gossip Jackal. For those living under a rock, someone posted the Andrews peephole video on the Internet after shooting the footage of the ESPN sportscaster standing naked in a hotel room. Another legal question is what to do about websites that posted the video and used the link to infect users' computers with malicious spyware.

watch erin andrews video

Now I'm staring down the barrel of 30 and I have no shame in telling you that I'm just as excited now about video game college football as I was when I was 12. I'm continually impressed year after year with how far the franchise has come, and how incredibly realistic it is. I think to myself, I deserve this. I've put in my time. I've suffered through choppy gameplay, so-so graphics (in retrospect, of course) and some entirely lame playbooks. Today, the playbooks are almost identical to those the real college teams run.

Despite some of the criticism about the game's playbooks, formation subs and lack of a spring game in the dynasty mode (all things that should be addressed), I will always love this game. Sure, I have a wish-list just like anyone who plays NCAA Football with any regularity. But this year's game is a definite improvement on last year's. On offense, the pre-snap controls have never been so user friendly, and the dominant players stand out just enough. On defense, they've added the ability to gang tackle and the option to kick your secondary into aggressive mode to increase their chance of getting an interception at the risk of giving up a long play.

To anyone who has followed her career as I have as a sports addict, and admittedly not always for her reporting talents alone, the breaking of the peephole video claiming to be Ms. Andrews unclothed, a contention that the ESPN sideline specialist has apparently confirmed, is striking for a number of reasons.

Andrews, the daughter of an Emmy-winning television news reporter, is gorgeous.

Seems ridiculous right? But as much as being good looking can help get you onto TV, it can become a major issue if you're a woman covering something and your target audience is, even in this day of worldwide sports mania, still mostly made up of guys.

Especially if you're trying to be taken very seriously as a reporter whilst covering a lot of men's athletics, which undoubtedly she has all around.

And to anyone who has been watching, Andrews has clearly been running it; doggedly in fact, and for a few years now - covering everything from the NHL playoffs to the National Spelling Bee and almost everything in between.

But more importantly, if you do go searching, you're likely to get rather more than you bargained for. As so often happens when these sorts of videos surface, those who would do you harm are taking advantage of your desires. As the anti-virus company is warning, many of the sites purporting to be hosting the Erin Andrews peephole video link are in fact doing nothing of the sort. One of them, for example, looks like a version of the CNN site (no, it has no coonection with CNN itself). If you try to download the video up comes a poup window which informs you that your own popup blocker is blocking the video player. In order to see Erin Andrews in all her glory you'll need to download another video player. Clicking on that does not give you another video player: nor the expected Erin Andrews peephole video.

While alone in the privacy of her hotel room, Erin Andrews was surreptitiously videotaped without her knowledge or consent. She was the victim of a crime and is taking action to protect herself and help ensure that others are not similarly violated in the future.

Although the perpetrator or perpetrators of this criminal act have not yet been identified, when they are identified she intends to bring both civil and criminal charges against them and against anyone who has published the material. We request respect of Erin's privacy at this time, while she and her representatives are working with the authorities.

The video, which we will not show or describe here, portrays Andrews unclothed.

Although the video was removed from the internet shortly after it was posted, cached video clips remain widely available as well as torrent video files.

At the time being, it is unknown at which hotel, what date, and at what time the video was taken.

For now, Andrews isn't speaking. But her legal representatives are.

british open 2009 turnberry leaderboard

The sun is shining over the scraggly gorse and the narrow fairways on a legendary Scottish links course, and the winds are up. Jack Nicklaus said this morning, "The wind makes Turnberry," and if the breezes blow hard today, it may help Watson keep the lead he has maintained most of the last three days of the Open.

Earlier in the week, Watson said he would love to take his chances in a howling gale.Watson topped the leaderboard at the finish of play on Saturday and said, “Now you kind of perk up your ears and say, this old geezer might have a chance to win the tournament. I don't know what's going to happen, but I do know one thing, I feel good about what I did today. I feel good about my game plan.

A Unique Handling of the Apollo 11 Story

When Andrew Dawson brings his one-man show to the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater on Saturday, he wants theatergoers to know that they'll be in excellent hands. In more ways than one.

"I do have very nice hands, it seems," says the 47-year-old Brit, creator and performer behind "Space Panorama," a theatrical retelling of the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing -- along with what Dawson calls a "pocket history of space exploration" -- that uses little other than his two hands. While sitting at a table wearing all black, Dawson will use his hands (and, from time to time, his upper body) to portray not only the lunar module and the astronauts inside, but the following: The bus that ferried the astronauts across the launching pad.
The Saturn V rocket that sent them into space, complete with plume of white smoke. Various switches, dials and fuel indicators in the capsule. Weightless shaving cream. The moon itself. The parachute that brought the capsule to splashdown. The helicopter that picked the astronauts up. Even the flukes of a passing whale's tale.

Marking 40 Years Since Apollo 11

Humans first landed on the moon 40 years ago this July. Just three years later, the last human mission left the lunar surface. Ira Flatow talks with Apollo astronauts Alan Bean and Harrison Schmitt about their time on the moon, and whether humans should make the trip again.

Guests:

Andrew Chaikin, science journalist and space historian, author, Voices From the Moon: Apollo Astronauts Describe Their Lunar Experiences, author with Alan Bean, Mission Control: This Is Apollo, Arlington, Vt.

Alan Bean, astronaut, lunar module pilot, Apollo 12, author, Alan Bean: Painting Apollo, illustrator, Mission Control: This Is Apollo, Houston, Texas

Harrison "Jack" Schmitt, astronaut, lunar module pilot, Apollo 17, author, Return to the Moon: Exploration, Enterprise, and Energy in the Human Settlement of Space, former US Senator, New Mexico, Albuquerque, N.M.

Could moon landings have been faked? Some still think so

Forty years after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon, a small cult of conspiracy theorists maintains the historic event -- and the five subsequent Apollo moon landings -- were staged. These people believe NASA fabricated the landings to trump their Soviet rivals and fulfill President Kennedy's goal of ferrying humans safely to and from the moon by the end of the 1960s.

"I do know the moon landings were faked," said crusading filmmaker Bart Sibrel, whose aggressive interview tactics once provoked Aldrin to punch him in the face. "I'd bet my life on it."

Sibrel may seem crazy, but he has company. A 1999 Gallup poll found that a scant 6 percent of Americans doubted the Apollo 11 moon landing happened, and there is anecdotal evidence that the ranks of such conspiracy theorists, fueled by innuendo-filled documentaries and the Internet, are growing.

British open leaderboard 2009: A quick glance

Tiger Wood confessed to the Examiner that he certainly made a few mistakes out there today, but realistically he probably should have shot about 1 or 2 under par today. But he made a few mistakes and consequently, He is now at 1-over.

Experts believe that Woods will have some work to do if he plans to be in contention on Sunday. History does not hold well for the number one player in the world as Woods has never shot over par in the first round of a British Open and gone on to win the tournament.

On the other hand 59 year-old Watson who has also nabbed three British Open titles on the PGA’s Champions Tour, able to shot a spectacular 5-under 65 on Thursday which brought back memories of his win at Turnberry in ‘77 when he out-dueled Jack Nicklaus to bring home the Claret Jug. Watson has brought home the coveted Jug five times in his career with wins in ‘75, ‘77, ‘80, ‘82, and 83.

Montco Teacher Held for Trial in Sex with Students Case

A former math teacher at North Penn High School in Montgomery County accused of having sex with one of her students and sending sexually explicit messages to another student has been ordered held for trial.

Both 17-year-old boys testified at Heather Zeo’s preliminary hearing. Under intense cross-examination from the defense, they told the judge how Zeo used social networking sites and the Internet to communicate with them.

Prosecutor Kate McGill says the 36-year-old Warrington, Pa. woman will stand trial on child endangerment charges:

“This was really a calculated seduction. I think in this situation where she reached out to these students on Facebook, she contacted them, she developed a relationship with them. they trusted her.

Heather Zeo PHOTOS

Heather Zeo sounds more like a norm and no longer an aberration. There has been a litany of high school teachers indulging in a lot more with students than what they had been hired for. We have already seen too many of such cases littered all over the country and specifically in Ohio.

Well, joining the ranks would be a former math teacher who was employed at North Penn High School in Montgomery County. Heather Zeo has been charged by the local state county of messaging explict matieral to minors and having an unhealthy relationship with the minors. These minors were her students.

Two two students with whom Heather Zeo had a relationship have now stepped up in the court room and alleged that Heather Zeo invited them over to her parked van and consequentllyled to actions which have led to the charges.

Prosecutor Kate McGill says Heather Zeo will stand trial on child endangerment charges.

What do you think about such cases? In this particular case at least the teacher was already married and cheating. There was no love as such involved and it was purely entrapment of kids. Do you see it otherwise? Let your thoughts and opinions be known using the form below.

Tour de France Stage 13 Results: Heinrich Haussler Breaks Away to Capture Stage Victory, Nocentini Holds Yellow Jersey

Heinrich Haussler managed to capture the Stage 13 124-mile trek of the Tour de France on Friday after launching a solo breakaway late in the race.

Haussler handled the cold and wet conditions with little trouble as he finished more than seven minutes ahead of the main pack. In that pack was overall leader Rinaldo Nocentini who will retain the yellow jersey.

Joining Nocentini in the main pack was Alberto Contador who remains in second and seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong who remains in third, eight seconds behind the leader.

State Briefs

The governing board of Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities Thursday approved a 3.7 percent increase in tuition, while Penn State and Pitt turned up on the heat on Gov. Ed Rendell to restore millions of federal stimulus dollars so they can hold down tuition increases.

Tuition for a resident undergraduate student will increase by $196 to $5,554 for the 2009-10 school year, while the maximum tuition for nonresidents will increase by $490 to $13,886.

The board, meeting in Harrisburg, also increased the annual technology fee that all students must pay by nearly 14 percent. A resident undergraduate student will pay $206, a nonresident $310.

Meanwhile Thursday, the executive committee of the University of Pittsburgh's board of trustees approved tuition increases of as much as 4 percent.

Penn State announced that its trustees will likely vote Friday to adopt the lesser of two options approved last week by the university trustees - increasing tuition at the main campus in State College by 4.5 percent. The other option called for a 10 percent boost.

Taleon Goffney, Gay Porn Actor, Gets Prison Time for Burglary

Taleon Goffney, a gay porn actor, is going to prison, reports the Associated Press. Taleon Goffney was busted last year for breaking into a beauty shop.

And now it's time for Taleon Goffney to pay the piper; he pleaded guilty to burglary and criminal conspiracy charges, and, accordingThe Associated Press, will be going to prison for at least three years.

The Taleon Goffney story would be interesting enough if it were just about a gay porn actor going to prison for burglary.

But the story is a little more interesting than that. Not only did Taleon Goffney commit a series of burglaries in which his modus operandi was to break into stores through their rooftops using a chainsaw and ax, but on a few occasions Taleon Goffney's accomplice was his identical twin brother Keyontyli Goffney, who - get this - is also a gay porn actor who has appeared in gay porn flicks with his brother Taleon Goffney. (You can't make this stuff up).

Erik Shut, of TLA Entertainment Group, told The Associated Press that Taleon Goffney and his twin brother Keyontyli Goffney appear in gay porn flicks under the names Teyon and Keyon.

Rory McIlroy and the British Open Leaderboard 2009

The first day of the 2009 British Open saw 59-year old Tom Watson take the leaderboard, with another champion Mark Calcavecchia sitting closely behind in second. And according to telegraph.co.uk, 20-year old Rory McIlroy stepped up to the challenge at the Ailsa course.

He seemed to adopt a fearless approach to start, with his sure putting stroke giving him birdies at the second and seventh holes. But he appeared slightly challenged at the eighth, when he pulled his drive into thick rough and attempted to make the green in two.

But it wasn’t going right and he could only advance 30 yards into the deeper grass, which then took 20 people four minutes to find the ball. Although Rory didn’t let that deter him, as he managed to retrieve his game and finished on a solid 69.

The Open Championship - British Open 2009 Leaderboard - Round 2

Tom Watson was the story of round 1 of the Open Championship as the 59 year old climbed the British Open 2009 leaderboard. He started today's round 2 just one shot off the lead and quickly made birdie on hole 1 to take sole posession of the lead. At that point round 1 leader Miguel Jimenez had already finished his round 2 and had stumbled with a 3 over par on the day, leaving him at -3 for the tourney.

However, Watson couldn't carry over his excellent play from the first 19 holes of the Open Championship. He is currently heading to hole 7 after bogeying four out of the last five holes to fall to -2 for the tournament, good for a 14th place tie.

The wind today is definitely going to be a factor which will open the door for players who need to make up strokes as the leaders come back to the pack a little. The wind is a constant 10 miles per hour with higher gusts.

Tiger Woods teed off about a half hour ago and approaches the third hole after making par on the first two holes. He still sits at +1 overall, currently tied for 44th place. He seems to be striking the ball a lot better than yesterday so far.

2009 British Open Leaderboard Changing in Day Two

The 2009 British Open leaderboard had been controlled for most of day 1 by Tom Watson. But the 2009 British Open leaderboard had a new leader at the end of the day.

Miguel Angel Jimenez stole the 2009 British Open leaderboard at the very end, putting an asterisk on the day's Tom Watsonstories.

Today, the Open leaderboard looks to change a few more times on Day 2 of the Open championship. Thus far, the 2009 British Open leaderboard has already undergone a few changes.

As of 10:40 a.m. Eastern, the 2009 British Open leaderboard isn't led by Miguel Angel Jimenez or Tom Watson. Steve Marino shot a 68 to get to -5 and take the lead, with Mark Calcavecchia, Stewart Cink and Matthew Goggin all one shot back.

Jean-Jacques Taylor Needs To Lighten Up

I look at a video like this, and knowing Tellus' penchant for making jokes, see it as Tellus making fun of stereotypes of Black people. I've watched several of Tellus' videos on his Youtube channel, and haven't seen one yet that didn't make me start laughing at some point. I wonder if Taylor took the time to watch "Buy U A Drink". I couldn't make it through thirty seconds of the video, I was laughing so hard. This is why Tellus makes these videos; because he likes attention, and he likes making people laugh. Martellus just happens to be an incredibly talented athlete who is also blessed with a superior wit, and he uses it to make people laugh.

Training camp position previews: Tight ends

It wasn't unusual to see Tony Romo have to help Bennett get lined up in the right spot during OTAs and minicamp. Since the Cowboys were installing a lot of new stuff at the time - and Bennett especially was learning new positions on the fly - the Aggie's occasional confusion was understandable. Bennett has had ample time to study his playbook, so he should know what he's doing in the Alamodome.

Jason Witten has proven himself as one of the league's premier tight ends. Bennett is bigger, faster, quicker and can jump higher. He performed well in a limited role as a rookie, and much more is expected of him this season.

Chandler, a Southlake Carroll product, was a fourth-round pick by the Chargers a couple years ago. But sixth-rounder Phillips has the upper hand in the competition to be the No. 3 tight end, because Phillips is a strong blocker and special teams player.

Getting back in the swing of things

** Terrell Suggs gets six years, $63 million from Baltimore and, according to reports, $40 million in the first two years of the deal. He has 53 sacks in his six seasons and been to the Pro Bowl three times. He's 26.

What does it mean for DeMarcus Ware?

Ware has 53.5 sacks in his first four seasons and is a three-time Pro Bowler. He's also 26. This has to help Ware. I'm still thinking he will get a deal with around $42 million guaranteed whenever an agreement is reached.

** As other teams begin to sign their draft picks - or finish signing them - the Cowboys will begin their work next week with their 12 selections. They were given a $4.639 million rookie pool to sign their picks but some of that cash was eaten up by the small bonuses given to the eight undrafted rookies. Without a first- or second-round pick, the Cowboys should get the deals done

** I checked out the training camp schedule Timmy Mac posted a couple of days ago. I thought it was interesting that Wade Phillips ditched his 1-2-1 schedule. Phillips has scheduled eight double sessions (I didn't include the three walkthrough days) in 22 days. Last year, the Cowboys had six double sessions in 19 days out in Oxnard, Calif. People can call Phillips' camp what they want, but it has had the team ready for the season. They Cowboys are 7-1 in September under Phillips.

** Not to pile on the Martellus Bennett stuff, but every time he does something childish I'm reminded of the rookies' trip to the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year. Sitting in the theatre after the tour, Hall of Famer Mike Haynes asked the assembled players who were the first African American players in pro football. Bennett yelled out, "Bruce Willis," to some chuckles. It was Bill Willis. I'm pretty sure he knew the answer but wanted to be the jokester in the room.
